What happens when you call

• We arrange a time to come and look. Free, usually about an hour, and we’ll work round when you’re in
• We walk the garden with you — what you want, what’s annoying you now, where the sun actually is at the time you’d sit out. Then measurements, levels, and a rough sketch on the spot
• You get a detailed written quotation within 48 hours, itemised, so you can see what each part costs and drop anything you’d rather leave for now
• Nobody chases you. If it’s not for you, that’s the end of it

Useful things to have ready

None of these are essential — ring anyway — but they speed things up:

• Your postcode, so we know where we’re coming
• A photograph or two of the garden as it is
• Rough idea of access — is there a gate round the side, or does everything go through the house? It makes a real difference to the price and we’d rather know early
• Whether there are trees involved, and whether you’re in a conservation area. If you don’t know, we’ll check — see protected trees

Where we work

Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Our office is in Berkhamsted and our yard is at Cholesbury, and we work regularly in Hemel Hempstead, Chesham, Amersham, Tring, Great Missenden, the Chalfonts, Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, Rickmansworth, Watford, High Wycombe and Aylesbury, plus the villages in between.

We’re a service area business — we come to you, so there’s no yard or showroom to visit.

Credentials, if you want to check

• NPTC qualified arborist
• Licensed waste carrier — ask for the registration number and we’ll give it to you
• Public liability insured — we’ll send the certificate before work starts

Worth asking any contractor for all three, and worth wondering about anyone who hesitates.

How quickly will you get back to me?

Same day if you ring or send the form during the week. If we do not pick up it is because we are working — leave a message and we will call back.

Is the site visit really free?

Yes, and there is no obligation attached to it. You get a detailed written quote within 48 hours and then you decide. Nobody will ring you repeatedly afterwards.

Can you give me a price over the phone?

Not an honest one. The same patio on a flat plot with a side gate, and on a slope you can only reach through the house, are genuinely different jobs. We would rather come and look and give you a real number than a figure that changes later.

Do you work weekends?

Saturdays sometimes, depending on the job and the time of year. Not Sundays. Ring and ask.

How far will you travel?

Bucks and Herts as standard. We will go further for the right job — ring and ask rather than assuming you are outside the area.
